I grew up in Lexington, Kentucky and received my bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary early childhood education and special education from the University of Kentucky. Soon after graduation, my husband and I moved to Charlotte NC and lived there for eleven years. While in Charlotte, I worked for First Steps as a service coordinator and also at a local hospital teaching childbirth and parenting classes. A desire to be closer to family with three young boys brought us to Louisville in 2015 and we have been here ever since!
I joined the Highland Pres. family in 2015 after we enrolled our children. We were looking for a play-based school and kindergarten and were so lucky to land at Highland Pres. I joined the staff a year later as a threes teacher and transitioned to a facilitator role in 2020. I love that I get to experience the individual cultures of each classroom and have the privilege to get to know all the children and teachers throughout the school.
I truly believe that every child deserves to be known on an individual basis and that each child is a valuable part of the classroom community. Children are capable of so much and often their voices are overlooked in our society. When we value their voices, they feel confident and capable. I love that our school values each child and encourages self-exploration and play! Highland Pres has such a loving and strong community and I’m so grateful to be part of it.
My husband and I have three sons. We enjoy watching them run cross country, traveling, and cooking. I also enjoy walking in my neighborhood and I love to explore new places.
