My name is Kristin Dock and I was born and raised and have lived my whole life in Louisville Kentucky. I earned a bachelor’s in fine arts and a minor in English from the University of Louisville. This will be my 11th year as an early childhood educator at Highland Pres.

I bartended and nannied my way through college, people have always been my love, young children in particular. Both families that I took care of had their small children at Highland Pres. Part of my responsibility for each family was to pick kids up after their mornings at Hi Ho. I was so impressed by the magical, joyful atmosphere at the children’s school that I knew I wanted to become a part of it. I started working at Highland Pres in 2014, and I was not wrong, I find joy in the children and our relationships and learn something new every day!

When we give children the time and space they need to follow their own ideas, we empower them as learners, as members of our classroom and larger community. When we scaffold for them how to deepen their discovery and exploration, we equip them with the tools for lifelong learning. Through play, children learn how to be together, how to meet their own needs while considering others, and develop the concepts for the foundation of math, literacy, science, etc.

I believe fully in the mission of Highland Pres and its dedication to providing what’s truly best for children in every way. My own three children have attended and are attending our program now. With three young children, my husband and I spend most of our time caretaking, but we also enjoy gardening, reading, learning new things, hiking, and doing art together!
