I first came to Highland Pres as a parent in 1999. My mom was a church member here and my younger brothers had attended the Weekday School in the ‘70s. After researching local early childhood environments for our first daughter, we knew we wanted to be a part of this amazing community. Fast forward through many years of HP volunteer work, extended day and morning subbing, I joined the team in 2010 as a Twos teacher. For as long as I can remember I wanted to be a part of this incredible school that, above all else, values the ideas of all children, respects their views of their world and understands that play is the work of children.

My friends and family have asked me over the years, what can you teach two and three year old children? My typical response is that we work to help them be good people. By focusing on the social and emotional development of children, we can help them practice skills to succeed at school, in their family life and be kind people, always. These are young, precious children! As teachers and researchers, we model behavior, language, kindness, empathy and love to name just a few. Their confidence and self-esteem bloom and grow as they practice in real time. It’s a beautiful thing to witness over and over. In my 15th year of teaching, I can happily say I am still learning and growing with the children, and they teach me every day. Our incredible staff and parent community provides the greatest camaraderie and support that make this the most joyful place to be!

My husband and I have two daughters, who are both graduates of our incredible school. I enjoy traveling, being with family, reading, cooking and gardening.
