I was born and raised in Louisville, moved to Chicago for college, and then to San Francisco for graduate school. I came back to Louisville in 2012, and I worked for non-profit organizations focused on the arts and education. I began teaching in early childhood education in 2021.
I first joined the Highland Pres community as a parent in 2018 when my son was in the Older Toddler class. Highland Pres felt like home to me immediately. The love and respect of children permeated every part of the school and my experience here. When my child left for elementary school, I knew I wasn’t ready to leave this incredible community, so I began working as an extended play teacher, and then as a classroom teacher in the Twos.
Children are constantly communicating with us, verbally and nonverbally, and understanding what they are trying to tell us with their actions is a large part of the work that we do in the Twos classroom. We are translators, coaches, co-regulators, and cheerleaders for the children. We watch their interests bloom and deepen, scaffolding their ideas as they grow. It is an honor to be a loving grownup in children’s lives.
My husband and I live in the Highlands with our son and two dogs. We enjoy listening to music together, taking walks, playing games, and traveling. I also love to bake, do puzzles, and exercise.
