I was born and raised in southern Ohio.  I attended Boston College, University of Kentucky, and Columbia University.  Graduating with a master’s degree in education from Columbia, I moved to Louisville from NYC to teach 4th grade and then later started a special program for the gifted.

Our 3 children attended Highland Presbyterian Weekday School.  Ann Lacy, the long time and famous director, eventually cajoled me into taking a temporary music teaching job at Highland. And so, it was.  35 years later I am still a music teacher remaining madly in love with magical, beautiful young children.

Young children really DO see the world through rose colored glasses.  They are hopeful, playful, joyful, creative, thoughtful humans. Music is a terrific vehicle for fostering these and so many more attributes. Music builds community for children.  It soothes, it inspires, it nurtures and strengthens connections in innumerable ways.

Good, loving relationships are the vital connection for creating rich, meaningful work for children.  They deserve to be seen, heard, valued just as they are.  Children LOVE rhymes, melodies, DRUMS, puppets, silly story songs, dance parties, wacky sounding things and beautiful instruments and songs, all kinds of songs, to sing and sing and sing again.

I love the simplest of life’s pleasures: hiking, gardening, cooking, singing, stitching, playing games, all sorts.  Travel is a treat! I’m blessed by my husband, 3 children, 2 grandchildren, and a multitude of friends and family I adore. The children of HPNWS and HPC are a deep part of these blessings.
