I grew up in Toledo, Ohio and moved to Lexington, Kentucky where I earned a degree in Art Education and Art Studio. From there I moved to DC and then to Louisville. I have worked in and around schools, non-profit community centers and after school programs before joining the team at Highland Presbyterian in 2022. I have always loved working with and around children of all ages, understanding that they are worth more attention and consideration in life than what is typically given to them, especially in educational systems. This is what brought me to Hi Ho.

I was lucky enough to participate in an abroad student teaching program and worked at a school in Italy. Since then, I have tried to bring their practices into my own teaching practice, and working at Highland Pres has allowed me to delve much deeper into this pedagogy. The process and work done within our school is so magical, and the emphasis of working in tandem and collaborating with the students on our day is what excites me most about this work!

I see children as an integral part to each educational environment, and especially to their communities. They deserve to have a voice in their own education. They deserve space for exploration, time for play and chances to learn through that play. This is the foundation of the human experience, to be able to work through “cognitive knots” creatively, with confidence, with understanding, and through the many ways of communication in order to grow themselves and their community.

My husband and I have one dog who we love to take on hikes and walks in the park and throughout our neighborhood. I am an artist and writer, and I love to be in nature, read, travel, and be with family.
