I am originally from Lebanon, KY and moved to Louisville after my college years. I earned a

degree in Social Work from the University of Kentucky and worked several jobs in the field

before starting my family. I decided to stay home in my children’s very early years. Once my

children were preschool age I felt so drawn to Highland Pres. I started subbing and then working

as a facilitator. After a break, I came back and started working during extended play. It was then

that I decided to take the leap to becoming a classroom teacher. This is my second year as a

Lightning Bug teacher and I just love it!

Highland Pres felt special from the first moment my oldest (now 21!) stepped in the door as a

toddler. It was so obvious how important the children were to the teachers and how they were

so heard and so respected. There is so much social and emotional growth that happens at

school and it is so important to be in a loving, caring, and enriching environment. I love that we

make the classroom our third teacher by putting so much energy, education, and thoughtfulness

into their makeup. The children are so capable, and it is so rewarding to watch their confidence

and creativity thrive as they experience their teachers, their peers, and our classroom.

As a teacher, I love nothing more than creating opportunities for children to learn and grow. The

children at HiHo constantly make their own choices. They get to read stories, use their hands,

get dirty, play in the water & sand, make friends, sing songs, dance, paint…The list is endless! I

believed Highland Pres was a magical place when my children attended and still think of it that

way as a classroom teacher. I feel very fortunate to have landed here as a parent and a

teacher.

My husband and I live in the Highlands and have three children and two dogs. We enjoy going

to their cross country/ track meets, trail walking, and traveling. In my spare time you will find me

cooking dinners or baking sourdough, walking, listening to podcasts, and reading.
