I am originally from Richmond, VA. I moved Louisville in 2014. After my youngest daughter started preschool at Highland Pres in 2019, I began volunteering at the school. When she moved on to elementary school, I stayed and volunteering turned into a full time position as daily sub. In 2024, I moved into a full-time classroom teacher role in the 5 day 2s class.
I love the freedom the children have at Highland Pres – the freedom to explore their world and learn, so importantly, how to be kind humans that value themselves along with the people and world around them. And i love the sense of community that we have here. It is incredibly rewarding to watch the kids grow throughout the year.
I believe children benefit from open-ended play, where the possibilities are wherever their imagination can take them. And i believe they deserve autonomy to speak and do for themselves with support and guidance behind them.
My husband and I have 3 girls, two of which are grown and starting their own families. Our third is in elementary school. We travel a lot for family visits to Virginia and Canada and enjoy summers at our Lake Erie cottage. Our pup, Tater, travels all over with us. I also love bookstores, reading, and yoga.
