I have lived in Louisville, KY most of my life.  My husband and I lived in New Orleans, LA for two years but Louisville was where we wanted to have and raise a family.   I have a degree in Sociology from the University of Louisville and began working professionally in Adult Day Programs before starting our family of four.  As our family grew, my career gravitated toward working in Early Childhood Education and in 1995, I began teaching in Parents’ Day Out programs.  This was when I began hearing about this wonderful program called “Highland Pres”, where they valued art and messy play and provided children time to work and dive into learning about things they were interested in, and to the dedication expected of their teachers and staff to continually study child development and to be curious about how children learn.  It was the dream job in Louisville’s Early Childhood Education Programs, basically, the gold standard!

I was fortunate to be hired in 1999.  I first taught in our Two’s Classroom, then the three’s classroom and eventually settling into my longest classroom duration in, the then only combined aged group class, the Five-Day Threes and Fours.  In 2015 a position as a Classroom Facilitator became open and I have worked in that position since.  It’s a role that enables me to support children and teachers throughout the preschool using my own classroom teaching experiences as a foundation.

My mantra for building relationships with children is “You’ve got to get them on your team” and sharing that, “I make a lot of mistakes.”

My free time is spent with my family, and my grandchildren.  Playing board games or card games with extended family is monthly and I enjoy walking for exercise and spending as much time outdoors as I can in our city and at our wonderful parks.
